2026 Conference: Local Tours

Each delegate will be able to choose up to three local tours in order of preference during Conference Registration. We will do our best to accommodate you in one of your three preferred tours.

Tour #1: Skating at the Richmond Olympic Oval

Begin your journey with the Olympic Legacy Tour, where you’ll uncover the inspiring stories and history behind the Richmond Olympic Oval. Then, lace up your skates and step onto the same ice where champions have trained. Led by expert instructors, this session blends Olympic inspiration with hands-on skating fun.

 

ACCESSIBILITY NOTE: Must be comfortable skating. The oval will supply those who do not know how to stake with assistance and protective gear.

Tour #2: Wheelchair Basketball at the Richmond Olympic Oval

Kick off the experience with the Olympic Legacy Tour, where you’ll dive into the stories of Paralympic athletes and Richmond’s role in Olympic history. Then, hit the court for an energetic wheelchair basketball session led by skilled instructors. Learn the fundamentals, embrace the teamwork, and celebrate the inclusive spirit of sport.

Tour #3: Rock Climbing at the Richmond Olympic Oval

Start with the Olympic Legacy Tour to explore the Oval’s rich Olympic heritage and the spirit of athletic excellence. Then, take your adventure vertical with an instructor-led climbing session on the Oval’s dynamic indoor wall. Learn the basics, challenge yourself, and experience the thrill of scaling new heights in a world-class facility.

Tour #4: How to Cook the Perfect Steak 101

Get expert insight into cooking the perfect steak from one of Richmond’s top chefs. Learn professional techniques, tips, and tricks that will elevate your steak game to the next level.

Tour #5: Matcha Tasting Experience

Be whisked away in Richmond during this immersive Matcha tasting experience. Attendees will journey through the rich history of Matcha in a guided, in-depth tasting session.

Tour #6: Yoga + Wine at LuLu Island Winery

Start your tour with an energizing, easy yoga session, overlooking the vineyards. Led by Mona Sarghie of Oxygen Yoga & Fitness Richmond Broadmoor, you’ll stretch, strengthen, and breathe your way into the day.

Then, trade your mat for a wine glass. Explore LuLu Island Winery—Richmond’s largest family-owned winery—and enjoy an estate tour and tasting, including their renowned Icewines. Relax, sip, and soak in the atmosphere of this city-side wine escape.

 

ACCESSIBILITY NOTES: Light yoga exercise and walking outdoors. Participating in the yoga session is not necessary, but encouraged. Dress for comfort.

Tour #7: From Soil to Stem: Regenerative Farm Tour & Workshop

This tour invites you to explore the unique and innovative world of regenerative farming at the beautiful Athania Acres. Discover how Richmond farms are embracing sustainable practices, then get creative in a floral arrangement workshop using locally grown BC blooms.

 

ACCESSIBILITY NOTES: Tour will be outdoors wear shoes suitable for the outdoors, it may be muddy this time of year! 

Tour #8: Bird Watching 101

Richmond isn’t just a magnet for global travelers—it’s also a haven for birds. Located along the Pacific Flyway, the city welcomes millions of migratory birds each year, drawn by the nutrient-rich mouth of the Fraser River. With over 300 species recorded, Richmond is a world-class birding hotspot. Join a local ornithologist to explore this vibrant ecosystem and learn the skills to become a birder.

Tour #9: Tea Ceremony in Historical Steveston

Step back in time in Richmond’s historic fishing village. Enjoy a guided tour of the Britannia Shipyards, discover the communities and cultures that helped shape the city, and immerse yourself in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

Tour #10: Brewery Tour & Tasting at Fuggles Brewery

Join us for an afternoon of fun at Fuggles Brewery, nestled in Richmond’s unassuming industrial district. This inventive local spot promises great hops and even better vibes.

Tour #11: Fisher’s Walk Tour in Steveston

Discover the legends of Steveston’s fishers with a guided tour of the newly opened Fisher’s Walk. Stroll through this immersive walking experience and explore the powerful impact of Richmond’s modern-day fishing industry through vibrant visual art displays.

Tour #12: Tour & Workshop at the Richmond Art Gallery

Calling all art lovers! Discover Richmond’s vibrant culture through the eyes of local artists on this city and gallery tour. Then, put your own creativity to the test in a guided workshop led by one of the gallery’s exhibiting artists—and take home your very own masterpiece.
